Biobest B-Green Nematodes
Heterorhabditis bacteriophora is a naturally occurring insect-parasitic nematode used to control the larval stages (white grubs) of European chafers (Rhizotrogus majalis), Japanese beetles (Popillia japonica) and Oriental beetles (Anomala orientalis).
Parasitic nematodes make short work of soil-dwelling grubs
- Effective chafer grub controls – targets soil-dwelling beetle larvae, such as Phyllopertha horticola and Hoplia philanthus
- Also controls black vine weevil larvae (Otiorhynchus sulcatus) - for use in ornamentals, soft fruit and in nurseries
- Fast-acting – Heterorhabidtis bacteriophora nematodes kill target grubs witin 1-2 days of infecting them
- Sustainable biological control – beneficial nematodes are safe to other beneficials, people and environment
- Effective between 12°C - 30°C.
Heterorhabditis bacteriophora quickly controls pest larvae at the time of application and is persistent in the soil, providing prolonged protection against pest reinfestation.
These beneficial nematodes are released in their infective juvenile stage to search out and enter insect pests. Once inside, the nematodes release symbiotic bacteria that quickly kill targeted insects. Reproduction inside the insect releases new generations of infective juvenile nematodes that disperse in search of further prey.
